"He has talked to us on many occasions about how you are always kind to him and are helping him in class."

Dear Ms. Folz,

We want to thank you for being a part of Leon’s first year in elementary school.

He has talked to us on many occasions about how you are always kind to him and are helping him in class.

When you recently gave him a letter stating how well he had done in class, he proudly showed it to us and now it stays with him by his pillow, together with his favorite stuffed animals!

This has really meant a lot to him and I can see how it is motivating him to try harder and do better everyday.

It is sad to hear that you will be leaving, but we pray for your success in finishing your portfolio and graduating, good luck and all the best!

Warm regards,

Alex/Michiyo & Leon Rusanescu

"It's just a short time and I really haven't been there in your lessons but I could tell you are a professional and an outstanding teacher."

Dear Ms Folz,

Thank you for coming to OCSI and teaching  Taikan. It’s just a short time and I really haven’t been there in your lessons but I could tell you are a professional and an outstanding teacher.

My husband told me that during the classroom observation, you were very calm in classroom management and were very clear in giving instructions and explanation in class.

Taikan described your lesson the best lesson because he loves the games you played with him and he had so much fun.

And when I was doing reading with him at home, I was impressed that Taikan could remember the phonics rules that he learnt at class very clearly.

The other day he was writing thank you letters to you and Mrs Fox by himself. He could recall the format of a letter and he was expressing his thankfulness to his teachers.

Here is his serious look when he was writing his letter.

"Happy..."

During our opinion writing unit in Writer's Workshop, I taught the kids about review writing and how some people grade with 5 stars if they really like a product. My student game me 5 stars in his letter to me. :)

"I like your silly jokes. You are funny and I will miss you!!!"

"What I wish is you stay in Okinawa..."

*Misunderstanding* The class has been writing to another first grade class at an international school in Singapore. My student thought that I would be going to Singapore because we have been writing to them.
